1. What we collect
When you request a price or book a service, we collect what the booking needs: your name, phone number, email, service address or storage location, ZIP code, rig details (type and length), and the service requested. When a service is performed, your technician adds photos of the work and condition notes to your rig's service record. If you join the Care Plan, we keep your membership and renewal dates. We also collect standard technical information when you use the site, such as pages visited and device type, through analytics.
2. Payments
Deposits and Care Plan fees are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. Whaleshine does not store your full card number; Stripe handles card data under its own privacy policy and security standards. The service balance you pay directly to your technician is a transaction between you and the technician.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to price and fulfill bookings, dispatch and coordinate your technician, maintain your rig's service record, send booking confirmations and day-of reminders, remind you when seasonal services are due (for example, a winterization reminder timed to your area's first freeze), manage Care Plan membership, respond to support requests, and improve the marketplace.
4. Text messages
By booking, you agree to receive transactional texts about your appointments: confirmations, reminders, and technician updates. With your consent, we also send service reminders and offers. Reply STOP to any message to opt out of marketing texts at any time; transactional messages about an active booking will still be sent. Message and data rates may apply.
5. Who sees your information
Your technician receives what the job requires: your name, contact number, service location, access details you provide, rig details, and the booked service. Service providers that run our infrastructure (hosting, database, payments, and messaging) process data on our behalf under their own obligations. If you book through a partner location such as a storage facility or RV park, we may confirm to that partner that a booking at their property was completed, for referral accounting, without sharing more than the fact and value of the completed job. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising.
6. Service record photos
Photos taken during service document your rig and the work performed. They live in your service record, are visible to you and to Whaleshine, and are shared with a technician when needed to perform a later service on the same rig. We do not publish your photos without your permission.
7. Retention
We keep booking and service record data while your account is active, because the service record's value is its history. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal information at any time, and we will do so except where we must retain records for legal, tax, or dispute purposes.
8. Your choices and rights
You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing privacy@whaleshine.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We honor these requests regardless of state.
9. Cookies and analytics
The site uses cookies and similar technologies for core functionality and analytics that help us understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; the booking flow works with cookies limited to what the session requires.
10. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls, and we limit access to those who need it to operate the marketplace. No system is perfectly secure, so we also minimize what we collect in the first place.
11. Children
Whaleshine is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the marketplace evolves. The effective date above reflects the latest version, and material changes will be noted on this page.
